|Jamie says this is her grandfather's favorite recipe. Their family is from the Austin area, and her grandfather worked for a nearby brewery. And for some wonderful reason they always had beer in the refrigerator. You could run out of bread, milk or eggs, but not beer. One day, grandma was fixing supper and she wanted to make biscuits for the meal. There was no milk, but there was beer! Well, that's how beer biscuits came about in their family! They are grandpa's favorite biscuit. Necessity is the mother of invention!

|Beer Biscuit Story|
2 cups unbleached flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup shortening
2/3 - 3/4 cup beer
Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in the shortening. Slowly, add the beer. Knead just
a bit. Too much, will make them tough. Dust surface with flour and roll out. Cut biscuits out
to desired shape.
Bake at 425 degrees for about 10 min.
